Long Overdue Update

So we finally got out and took the boys sledding. It was a lot of fun. Cassie and Jaden came with us. Aidan was the bravest of all the kids he couldn't get enough of it. I would take him down 3 or 4 times and then Cassie would have to take him (how sad that I would be winded after hiking back up the hill so many times but, Aidan didn't seem to get tired at all). After much persuasion I finally talked Ashton into going down the hill with me and would'nt you know that was the one time we hit powder at the bottom. I knew as soon as the snow hit me in the face that this was not good. After Ashton caught his breath he cried and that was it for him. Luckily he had a great time just playing in the snow. Sorry the pictures aren't better. I forgot my camera so these were taken with my phone.

Other exciting news at our house AIDAN IS POTTY TRAINED! WooHoo. He was the easiest kid ever to potty train. The first time he wore big boy underpants, he had one accident and that was it. He has been going on the potty ever since. I was worried that it might be a fluke but, it has been about a month now and he is still going strong. He did go peepee in his pants the other day but, it was kind of my fault. We were coming back from the store and he suddenly had to go. He really wanted me to pull over so he could pee on the side of main street but, I wouldn't so he ended up going in his pants. Pretty good though, right? Ashy on the other hand is sooo not into big boy underwear. He will go in the potty great if he is naked but, as soon as he is wearing something down there he feels free to go. He keeps telling me that he is too tiny for underwear. I suppose he does'nt get that he and his brother are the exact same age. Oh well he will do it when he is ready. I will keep everyone posted. Here is Aidan modeling his unders. I love the little melvin.

Ready for Christmas!!!

The boys are all excited for Santa to come. I think that I am just as excited. I have never been ready this early. Aidan wants a train and Ashy wants a Alligator. We went to see Santa of course Ashton screamed and cried he was terrified. Aidan on the other hand was a bit star-struck. He just stared at Santa with this wide-eyed look. It was very cute. Here are a few picts of the boys.

Potty Heads

So, maybe I am getting ahead of myself but, I can't wait for my diaper days to be behind me. Last Christmas Jason and I bought a little toilet for the boys with the hopes that they would be so excited to use it, they would train themselves. No such luck, they carried it around and put, toys in it until it was destroyed.

About a month ago, we decided to try it again. Jason went out and bought a new little toilet seat (that sits on top of the normal one) and a little step stool, so they can climb up all by themselves. They love sitting on the potty but, no matter how long we sit there with them encouraging them to go, they wait until the minute we get them down to pee. Usually, somewhere on the carpet.

Now they have discovered that they potty fits nicely on their heads. It has now become the potty hat.

Hopefully they will be ready to try again soon. Aidan is outgrowing the size 6 diapers really fast, and I think that is the biggest size they make. Wish me luck!

WaaHoo! Vacation

So, summer vacation has come and gone again. We usually get one nice family vacation a year so we try to make enough memories to last us through the winter. This year we went to Michigan for the Avery family reunion. We made so many fun memories we could (but hopefully don't) go for many years without another vacation.

We started the vacation with the boys first airplane ride. I was so nervous! Luckily, this is how it went.

Too bad the ride home wasn't as smooth. Ashton, threw a bit of a fit. And although the flight attendent was very firm, Ashton pretty much didn't care that he should be wearing a seat belt. They really should make those seat belts a little more difficult. I think that if a two year old can figure out how to unlatch it, the directions they give on every flight on how to work your seatbelt are a little pointless.

Then Aidan got a little air sick upon landing in Vegas and puked. Luckily, Daddy was there to catch most of it. Now when asked about the airplane ride he always starts with "I puke" and the actions to go along with it (complete with gagging noise).

And now, for my from the sky picture. I have to take one on every vacation that a flight is involved.

In Michigan our days were filled with sand and sun. Our first day there we went to the sand dunes and had so much riding uncle Nolans Rhino. I know I look like a total dork. The sunburn line on my forehead looked even worse but, at least my part wasn't burned. The boys also had a blast playing in the cold Lake Michigan water.

The boys LOVE all of their cousins.

The second day, we went to Michigan Adventure, an amusement park. The boys were not on their best behavior. The following picture explains it all.

I don't know how well you can see them but, the boys are both screaming their heads off. What little stinkers.

Day three, we went to lake Michigan and had a boat that we spent time tubing behind. It was so much fun, I will always remember Teva and myself, laughing like little kids. It was great.

I am always so amazed at how well Jasons family all get along. We had 28 people spending almost every minute of three days together and there were no fights. We love you all so much. Thank you so much to Nathan and Holly. It was such a fun reunion. I gladly hand over the reward for best reunion to You! We only wished we could have stayed longer. We can't wait for our next one in two years. So looking forward to it, Nolan and Teva.

Here are some other pictures of our time in Michigan.

Summertime Blues

So Summertime is half over. It really bums me out. I have been working all summer and I need a break.
My summer blues began two days ago, I was at work (of course), I heard someone mention that it was raining outside. It was 8:00, I was off at 9:00. I had to hurry! There is nothing better then a heavy, summer, rainstorm. I started cleaning and finished at about 9:15 (which was okay, because I always get to work 15 minutes late). All I had left was my garbage. I had to take it through produce and dump it. I made a mad dash and was on my way back in record time. Just as I was almost in the clear, I hear, "excuse me". I gritted my teeth and turned around "do you work in the meat department?" She needed some sausage, it was on sale and the shelf was empty. On my way to the freezer, to get more, I get interrupted by a man that was looking for coffee cups (the one item in the store that I can't find). I'm sure you get the picture. To make a long story short, I ran out of the store at 9:40. The rain was gone. Jason had to work at 10:00. It takes me 10 minutes to get home, at least. It takes Jason 10 minutes to get to work. I was racing the clock.

About, two miles into my ride home, I started to relax. It was then that I noticed the smell. I took a deep breath. How could you not love the smell right after it rains. I instantly became happier. Now, this didn't get me off the hook with Jason, of course. But, he always forgives, eventually.

I just need a break. I know that Michigan is only a month away. (YEAH!) and when it gets here it means summer is almost over. I am going to commit myself to trying to enjoy all of the non-work summer moments I have left. Here are a few of my favorite summer snapshots so far.

Meet the Monkeys

For my first blog ever I decided to just get it out of my system and let the proud mommy in me take over. I am still constantly amazed that these two sweet, wonderful little boys are mine. For all of you who are reading this blog (probably just you, Cass). I assume that you know Jason and myself but, maybe I can share something new about Aidan and Ashton. So my first blog is dedicated to the boys and I promise that future blogs won't be so sappy.

Since the day the boys have come home from the hospital people have been asking us if they are identical. To which I respond, "Umm, are you looking at them?" (they have always looked so different) So for those of you out there that can't tell them apart, here are some of their many differences.

AIDAN COLE AVERY

Aidan is the first born (by one minute). I think that he would like to think that he is in control but, we all know that Ashton is the boss around here. Aidan has many nicknames, some of them are MayMay, Moosey, Aiya (his name for himself) and Ainan (Ashy's name for him). He is the most loving baby. He always lets mommy snuggle up to him and he never gets sick of it. I can kiss on him for long periods of time. I love that!
He loves his brother and daddy so much, he really loves to wrestle with them. He is very social and makes friends very easily.
Aidan is also very hot-tempered. He loves cars and he hates to share them. He also can throw a tantrum to rival the best tantrum throwers.

ASHTON JACE AVERY

Ashton is such a little sweet-heart. He is very nice and kind. He is a great sharer. He is daddy's little mini-me. Some of his numerous nicknames are...Ashy, Smooshie, Moosher, Mashey etc. He loves to give wugs (hugs). Even though he is so loving he is also very shy in public.

Ashy can be very strong willed. If he decides something there is no changing his mind. If he and Aidan have a disagreement he almost surely wins.

Both of my sweet potatoes are awesome they keep life exciting. And now I stop with the sappiness. I can't help but feel like I just wrote personal ads for my boys. Maybe I'll print this blog off so that in thirty years if I am trying to marry them off I'll be all prepared.

First blog ever, completed!
